G W Martin has taken another big step forward this year with the installation of two new Citizen Miyano BNE machines – a major boost to our precision engineering capability and a clear sign of where we’re heading.
We’ve invested more than £600,000 since January, strengthening what we can deliver for customers and supporting the wider push for growth across UK manufacturing. The upgrades have already caught local attention too, with the Daily Echo highlighting the role we’re playing in the regional economy.
Raising the bar on capability
These new machines aren’t just additions to the shop floor, they’re a real shift in what’s possible. Greater accuracy, faster cycle times and improved consistency mean we can take on even more complex, high‑spec work while keeping quality exactly where it needs to be.
This forms part of nearly £3 million invested over the past five years, all focused on building a stronger, more advanced manufacturing offering here in the UK.
Backing people as well as technology
We’re also growing the team behind the machines. Three new apprentices join us this month, bringing our total to seven in training. Developing local talent has always been part of who we are, and it’s how we help keep vital engineering skills in the region.
As our Managing Director Stuart Yalden says:
“With UK manufacturing growth high on the agenda, our investment in the latest technology shows that high‑value careers in engineering will be leading the way.”
Our experienced engineers are also stepping into advanced training linked to the new equipment, ensuring the whole team moves forward together.
Building for the long term
This investment supports a bigger ambition: a more resilient, sustainable UK supply chain. Alongside new machinery, our 240kW solar system now generates around 30% of our energy, with the rest coming from 100% renewable electricity – helping us grow responsibly and with the future in mind.
With more than 60 years behind us and continued investment driving us forward, we’re well placed to support UK industry for decades to come.
