Quality management systems and process control

A structured Quality Management System, such as ISO 9001, underpins everything we do. It ensures our processes are clearly defined, repeatable and consistently monitored. 

Alongside this, we take a controlled, methodical approach to production. That includes: 

  • Standardised machining and setup procedures
  • Controlled CNC programming and tooling strategies
  • In-process checks to catch any issues early

This approach helps us prevent problems before they occur, rather than relying solely on final inspection. 

Inspection and metrology in precision engineering

Inspection is essential, but it’s most effective when it’s integrated throughout the process, not just at the end. 

We use advanced equipment to verify that every component meets its specification. Our inspection capabilities include: 

  • Coordinate Measuring Machines (CMMs) for precise dimensional checks 
  • Optical and non-contact measurement systems 
  • Surface finish and form analysis 

By inspecting at multiple stages, we can identify deviations early and make adjustments quickly, ensuring consistent quality from start to finish. 

As part of our continued investment in inspection technology, we recently completed the purchase of our second VICIVISION Shaft Scanner from Carfulan Group at MACH 2026. The new VICIVISION 609 Prima will further enhance our shop floor inspection capabilities and provide additional capacity to help speed up our quality management processes. 

Traceability and accountability

Traceability is a core part of how we maintain quality. We keep detailed records for every component, giving full visibility throughout its lifecycle. 

This typically includes: 

  • Material certification and sourcing 
  • Machining and process data 
  • Inspection and measurement results 

This level of documentation is especially important for customers in highly regulated industries. 

Validation, calibration and consistency

Before full production begins, we carry out validation processes such as First Article Inspection (FAI). This confirms that our tooling, programming and processes can reliably produce parts to the required standard. 

To maintain that accuracy, we ensure: 

  • Machines and measuring equipment are routinely calibrated 
  • Preventative maintenance is carried out as planned 
  • All equipment is verified against recognised standards 

These steps help us deliver consistent, repeatable results across every batch. 

Continuous improvement and skilled expertise

Quality isn’t static; it evolves. By reviewing production data and inspection results, we continually refine our processes and look for opportunities to improve.
